Owls of the World™
As our logo suggests, we love owls. Owls are amongst the most beautiful, and truly bizarre, denizens of Planet Earth. Due to their nocturnal habits, they do, of course, tend to be extremely elusive, requiring special skill and local knowledge to find them. Some of the most sought-after birds on the planet are owls. Species such as Great Gray Owl, Snowy Owl, Pel’s Fishing Owl and many others feature very high in the dreams of serious birders. Also, the Long-whiskered Owlet, a new species of owl discovered in the Cloudforest Mountains of Peru in the 1970's is still a mystery and challenge for all ornithologists and occupies the thoughts and dreams of many birders a great deal. In fact, every owl species, from the tiniest Scops, Flammulated, Elf and Pygmy Owls to the massive eagle owls, fishing owls and other monstrous species, all provide immense joy when found because of their character, as well as because they are so tough to locate.
We now provide a series of tours, throughout the world, aimed at finding these owls. During our southern African Owling tour, for example, we strive to find all 12 owl species in the region (and find tons of other birds as well as big and small mammals as a by-product of our focus on finding the owls). During our Northern European tour, we aim to locate top species such as Great Gray, Ural and Tenglman’s Owls, among many others (again with other stunning birds and wildlife along the way).
