28-Day Uganda Birding Tour Tour Information Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International airport met by our guide and transferred to your hotel in Entebbe overnight Windsor L Victoria Hotel or Flight Motel Entebbe. Day 2 : Leave Entebbe early in the morning for Mabamba swamp birding enroute, we have a chance to see a variety of weavers on the way, Black headed Oriole, Black Bishop, and many others, in Mabamba swamp we shall take a hand paddled boat in the swamp for swamp in search for the majestic Shoebill, here we have a chance to see a variety of water birds like the Purple swampen, Black Crake, Purple Heron, squacco Herons, Malachite King fisher to mention but a few after the swamp we shall transfer to L. Mburo birding enroute, arrive for an evening game drive as you enter park where we have a chance to see a variety of birds overnight Mantana Tented camp or Rwonyo tented camp. Day 3: Morning game drive where we have a chance to see Zebras, Impalas, Elands, Topis, Buffaloes to mention but a few, we shall bird as well for the Red Faced Barbet, Bare faced Go-away-bird, Tabora Cisticola to mention but a few after this we go for a boat ride in search for the African Finfoot here we have a chance to see water animals like the Nile Crocodile, Hippos and many others overnight Mantana Tented camp or Rwonyo tented camp. Day 4:Morning drive to Kisoro via Kabaale Ecuya Forest enroute where we have a chance to see the Dusky Twin spot, Rwenzori Masked Apalis, Rwenzori Batis, Collared Apalis, Black billed Turaco, Evergreen forest Warbler and a variety of other forest and Albertine rift endemics after which transfer to Kisoro overnight traveler’s rest Kisoro. Day 5: Morning bird Mgahinga NP, we shall bird Sabinyo and the Gorge for Rwenzori Turaco, Kivu ground Thrush, Stripe-breasted Tit, Shelly’s Crimson wing, Rwenzori Batis to mention but a few afternoon bird L. Kyahafi for a variety of water birds overnight Traveler’s rest. Day 6: Transfer to Ruhizha birding the bamboo for Handsome Francolin White-starred Robin, Red-throated Alethe, Grauer’s Warbler, Dusky Crimson wing afternoon bird around the camp for the Dusky Twinspot, Magpie Manikin, Stripe breasted Tit and a variety of other birds evening bird around the road to the school in search for African Wood Owl and Rwenzori Night jar overnight Institute guest house (this accommodation is basic there is no choice here). Day 7: Morning trek to Mubwindi Swamp for African Green-broadbill, Grauer’s Rush Warbler, Caruthers’s Cisticola, Purple-breasted, Blue-headed and Regal Sunbirds after afternoon bird around the camp for Dusky Twinspot, Luhder’s Bushshrike, Rwenzori Batis to mention but a few overnight Institute guest house. Day 8: Second day trying the swamp incase we missed the African Green Broadbill after transfer to Buhoma birding the “Neck” depending on time incase we saw the broadbill on the first day we transfer straight to Buhoma birding the “Neck” enroute for the Black Gorilla resort or Bwindi view camp. Day 9: An early morning trek into Bwindi forest with packed lunch led by experienced tracker will lead us to a family of mountain gorillas, these massive primates are extremely rare believed to be only 700 remaining. You will be within some meters of the family and be privileged to spend some time amongst them after which back to your hotel evening bird the farm for the Bat Hawk, here we have a chance to see it roosting, we also have a chance to see the Red-chested Flufftail, Red-throated Wryneck to mention but a few overnight Gorilla resort or Bwindi view camp. Day 10: Morning birding Buhoma main trail for the Handsome Francolin, Rufous-chested Fluff tail, Olive-Long-tailed Cuckoo, Red-chested Owlet, Neumann’s Warbler, Pale-breasted Illadopsis, White-tailed Flycatcher, and many others evening farm walk for the Bat Hawk incase we missed it the first day overnight Gorilla resort or Bwindi view camp. Day 11:Second day birding Buhoma in search for what we may have missed the previous day overnight Gorilla resort or Bwindi view camp. Day 12:Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP via Ishasha sector of the park for a game drive in search for tree Climbing Lions and birding for Broad-tailed Warbler, a variety of raptors overnight Mweya safari lodge or Institute of ecology guest house. Day 13: Morning game drive in search for Elephants, Lions, Hyena, Leopard, Uganda Kob and a variety of Savanna birds like the Temminck’s Courser, Dwarf Bittern, African Crake, White-tailed Lark and many other savannah birds afternoon go for a cruise on Kazinga channel where we shall see a variety of water birds, African Immigrants, Hippos, Crocodiles, Water Buffalos, Elephants to mention but a few overnight Mweya safari lodge Institute of ecology guest house. Day 14: Transfer to Semliki National Park birding enroute, afternoon bird around the hot springs for Red billed Dwarf, White crested, Black Wattled, Piping and white thighed hornbills, We may have a chance to see the Spotted Ibis, Nkulengu rail, Olive pigeons an many others overnight Vanilla hotel Bundibugyo. Day 15: After breakfast drive to Kirumia trail with packed lunch birding the whole day for African Piculet, Yellow-throated Cuckoo, Bronze Napped Pigeon, Black Dwarf hornbill, Red-rumped Tinkerbird, least honey guide, black bee-eater, Blue-throated roller, Blue-headed crested flycatcher, Congo Serpent Eagle, Zenker’s honey guide, Blue Swallows, Rufous Sided Broadbill, Green Ibis, Red thighed Sparrow hawk, White bellied Kingfisher, Black collared Lovebird, Red tailed Anti-thrush to mention but a few overnight Vanilla hotel Bundibugyo. Day 16: Morning transfer to Fort portal birding enroute, depending on time we may bird Kibaale forest on the western part of Fort portal for Luhder’s, many coloured Bush shrikes, Cassin’s grey flycatcher, African Black duck, White napped and Afep Pigeons, white-headed Cuckoo, Joyful Greenbul and many others overnight primate lodge tented camp or bandas. Day 17: After an early morning breakfast, drive to Kibaale NP reported to be home to the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in the world. We shall go for birding for the African and green-breasted Pittas, Western bronze-napped Pigeon, Many-coloured Bush shrike to mention but a few, afternoon Swamp walk in Bigodi wetland for the Papyrus endemics and a variety of primates overnight primate lodge tented camp or Bandas. Day 18: Transfer to Budongo birding enroute overnight court view hotel Masindi. Day 19: Morning birding the Royal Mile for Cassin’s Hawk Eagle, Nahan’s Francolin, Chocolate-backed and Dwarf Kingfisher, Brown-backed Scrub- Robin, e.t.c. afternoon bird the pond area for the Shining Blue Kingfisher overnight Masindi Hotel or court view hotel Masindi. Day 20: Bird the main road for Spotted Greenbul, Blue-throated Roller, Chestnut capped, Flycatcher, Ituri Batis, Tit Hylia, White-spotted Greenbul, Forest Robin, Narina Trogon overnight Masindi hotel or court view hotel Masindi. Day 21: Transfer to Murchison Falls NP, via the escarpment birdinghere for Foxy Cisticola, Cliff charts Western Violet-backed Sunbird, check in at Red Chilli rest camp then transfer to the top of the falls to see the magnificent falls and birding for Pel’s fishing Owl, Bat Hawk, Rock Prantincoles, bird till late for Night jars overnight Nile safari camp or Red chilli rest camp. Day22: Morning game viewing with a guide on the Northern Bank as you trail and spot Elephants, Buffalo, Uganda Kob Hartebeest, Oribi, Giraffes, Leopard, and other Game there are a variety of birds and the rare shoebill is seen here, Abyssinian Ground Hornbills, Denham’s, Black bellied Bustards, Northern Carmine Bee-eaters, Red Chested Bee eater, White crested Plover and if lucky we may see the Egyptian Plover, White Browed Sparrow Weavers, Speckled fronted Weavers, Chest nut crowned Weavers e.t.c. Return to the Hotel for lunch then take a cruise to the bottom of the falls, a magical trip through some beautiful scenery. The whole of the 50 meters wide Nile River is forced into a gap only 7 meters wide – the immense force of the water and the views of the falls are awe inspiring get off the boat at the bottom of the falls for an evening walk at the top of the falls birding for Pel’s fishing Owl, Bat Hawk, Rock Prantincoles, bird till late for Night jars overnight Nile safari camp or Red chilli rest camp. Day23: Transfer to Jinja birding Kaniyo Pabidi enroute for Puvel’s Illadopsis, and a variety of forest birds continue birding enroute for the White crested Turaco, we may have a chance to see the Red-headed Weaver, Yellow billed Shrike, Vaneceous Dove, Great Blue Eared Starling and many others overnight Rain forest camp or Mabira forest Bandas. Day24: Bird Mabira forest for what we may have missed the previous day after transfer to Mt. Elgon overnight at the SIpi resort or exploration center. Day25: Full day birding at the exploration center trail where we have a chance to see the Hartlaub’s Turaco, Eastern bronze napped pigeon, Golden winged and Taccaze Sun birds, Red winged Starling,, Spotted tree creeper and many others overnight Sipi Resort or Exploration center. Day26: Second day birding for what we may have missed the previous day overnight at the exploration center. Day27: Transfer to L. Bisina, take a hand paddled boat in search for the Uganda’s only endemic the Fox Weaver, here we may have a chance to see the Shoebill, Pygmy Geese, Lesser Jacana and a variety of water birds after which transfer back to Jinja overnight Jinja Nile resort or Hotel Triangle 2002 LTD. Day28:After breakfast transfer back to Entebbe, depending on your flight we may bird the Botanical gardens for the Orange weaver and a variety of other birds after which transfer to the Airport for your flight, end of services.
